Abstract: According to the occurrence and engineering geological conditions of 1921 working face in steeply inclined thin coal seam in Zhaojiaba Coal Mine, to study on the law of roof stress and deformation in steeply inclined thin seam by using the theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and filed measurement. The results show that the steeply inclined thin coal seam roof stress has obvious regional characteristics; the roof of solid coal at the ends of working face is the increased stress area, the roof above the working face is the decreased stress area, and the area shows asymmetric flat arch distribution; the advanced support pressure in different position of working face is different, the middle of working face is significantly greater than that of upper and lower; the stress concentration factor for the advanced support pressure is approximately parabolic growth with the advancing distance, When the advancing distance is 50m, the stress concentration factor remained basically unchanged; the subsidence curve of roof showed asymmetric gourd shaped distribution obviously, the upper roof subsidence of working face is maximum. Research results conform to actual roof deformation.
